1. A 43 year old woman presents with several painless
solitary nodules in the neck. Thyroid iodine 131 scan shows “cold nodules”.
2. A 30 year old woman presents with a few enlarged cervical
nodes. FNA results show the presence of psammoma bodies.
3. A 3 year old central African child presents with muscle
spasticity and motor incoordination. You noticed his short stature and his
inability to complete tasks a normal 3 year old is capable of. On examination a
smooth goitre is found.
4. An 80 year old woman is found to have a palpable nodule
in the neck and she appears cushingoid. Severe diarrhoea is reported.
Laboratory investigation reveals high levels of ACTH and calcitonin.
Histologically, amyloid is present in nodule biopsy.
5. A 40 year old woman presents with stridor, dyspnoea and
dysphagia. On examination firm, a rock hard thyroid is found.
